When Art Meets Engineering: A Custom Light Inspired by 3D Printing
Every 3D printed part has a story - one that blends creativity, design, and innovation. At Vexmatech, we don’t just create parts; we create possibilities. And sometimes, those possibilities take shape in the most unexpected forms - like a custom light that embodies the spirit of 3D printing itself.
This unique light fixture, crafted by our CTO Mr. Shailendra, is more than just a functional piece of décor. It’s a perfect example of how engineering precision can coexist with artistic expression.
The Inspiration: Light from a Laser
The concept was simple yet profound - a light inspired by the laser beam of a 3D printer. Just as a laser traces each layer of a design to bring it to life, this custom light guides the way to the heart of our workspace, where imagination becomes reality.
Every detail, from the form to the glow, reflects the meticulous process of additive manufacturing - where creativity meets technology, and function meets beauty.
Case Study: McDonald’s Embraces 3D Printing with Custom Light Fixtures
The Challenge: Modernizing Store Ambience
As McDonald’s continues to modernize its outlets worldwide, the brand faced a unique challenge - how to create customized, sustainable, and cost-efficient interior elements that align with its global design standards while allowing local creative flexibility.
Traditional manufacturing processes often limited creativity due to tooling costs, long production times, and waste generation. McDonald’s needed a smarter solution - one that offered design freedom and environmental responsibility.
The Solution: 3D Printing for Custom Fixtures
McDonald’s partnered with leading design and manufacturing firms to develop a series of 3D-printed light fixtures using recycled materials. The fixtures were designed to:
• Reduce material waste by leveraging additive manufacturing efficiency
• Shorten production lead times
• Enable location-specific customization across outlets
• Reflect the brand’s sustainability goals and innovative identity

Using 3D printing technologies like SLA (Stereolithography), MJF (MultiJet Fusion) and FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), the teams produced lightweight, durable fixtures with intricate lattice structures - forms that would have been impossible or expensive to achieve through traditional methods.
The Process: Turning Vision into Reality
Like every project we take on at Vexmatech, this one began with a digital design, modelled in CAD software to achieve the exact geometry and balance between form and function.
Once the design was finalized, our team used SLA 3D printing technology to bring it to life. The resin-based process offered smooth surfaces, intricate detailing, and a finish that made the light look more like art than hardware.
Post-processing steps like curing, sanding, and polishing ensured durability and a premium look - transforming a simple concept into a tangible symbol of innovation.
Symbolism: More Than Just Light
Placed strategically at our facility’s entrance, this custom light isn’t just illumination - it’s inspiration. It represents the journey of every idea that enters our doors: from concept sketches and CAD models to prototypes and final products.

When Engineering Becomes Expression
This project captures the essence of what makes 3D printing special - the freedom to create without limits. Whether it’s an artistic installation, a product prototype, or a functional industrial component, additive manufacturing empowers creators to experiment, refine, and realize their visions faster than ever before.
At Vexmatech, we constantly explore how design thinking and engineering precision can combine to build not just products, but experiences.
