What Is HIPS Material?

high impact polystyrene Sheet (HIPS) is an engineering thermoplastic with good dimensional stability, good impact resistance, excellent machinability and excellent aesthetic qualities. HIPS can be easily sanded, primed, painted and glued using colourful acrylic paints. The material provides fantastic detailed representations of the model for exhibition. HIPS has several unique qualities that set it apart from ABS and other materials

Features

  1. Good impact resistance
  2. Excellent machinability
  3. Good dimensional stability
  4. Easy to sand, paint and glue
  5. Low cost
  6. FDA compliant
  7. Low shrinkage value
  8. Light Weight

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) Applications

HIPS is often specified for low strength structural applications such as housings and covers. It is frequently used machining pre-production prototypes since it has excellentdimensional stability and is easy to fabricate, paint and glue. Scale models, miniatures, cosplay items and wearables.

Natural (translucent white) HIPS is FDA compliant for use in food & drug, processing and packaging applications.
